Anne Siems Artist's Statement While these works depart from my previous drawings in a more painterly manner, nature remains central. New imagery has appeared, lending the work symbolism reminiscent of that found in devotional folk art. Particularly inspiring have been Mexican Retablos, Indian Yantras and Mandalas, and medieval art. My intent is to depict my relationship with the spiritual.
