Josef Levi was born on February 17, 1938 in New York City and still resides there. At the University of Connecticut he graduated in 1959 with a BA and studied with Walter Miegs there. He was at Columbia University in 1960. From 1960-1967 he served in the United States Army. He has traveled to Spain, France, Belgium, Holland, England, Mexico and the Middle East.
