Jacqueline PonceletLiège, Belgium, 1947 -

Poncelet received her BA in ceramics at the Wolverhampton College of Art, England (1969) and an MA in ceramics at the Royal College of Art, London (1972). Presently she lectures both at Goldsmiths College, London, and Camberwell College of Arts, London. Her early work was small scale, precious, paper thin bone-china vessels with stains. Later the work shifted to earthenware and a much rougher aesthetic. She gave up working in ceramics in 1986. Since 1972, Poncelet has exhibited regularly in Europe and the USA, including the British Crafts Council Gallery in London (1977 and 1981) and the Max Protetch Gallery, New York (1986). Her work has been included in dozens of British ceramic surveys including 'The Raw and the Cooked', organized by the Museum of Modern Art., Oxford (1993) and 'The Decorative Sublime', Museum of Modern Art, Oxford (1996). In 1978 Poncelot received a British Council Bicentennial Art Fellowship to the USA and in 1983 a British Council exhibition and travel grant to Japan.
