Stefanie Nagorka

Combining graphite, wax, and studio detritus such as hair and dust, Stefanie Nagorka creates spare compositions of overlapping geometric designs. Under the translucent wax are graphite geometric designs. Her work has been called "minimalism freed from the grid" (ARTnews 11/98).

Traveling across country through all fifty states, Nagorka claims large retail home improvement warehouses as her studio. Ms. Nagorka goes about the business of making art as if the stores hired her, which they haven't. Performance is an inherent part of her art making process.
